haircare

mamas, this is where you will always find my current hair routine.

Updated Dec 2021 (GIRL, i know. i’ll update this within the week)

rapunzels!

Here is my current hair routine as of December 2021.

i’ll update this page as my routine changes, and of course my youtube channel as well.

first, and i know you aren’t trying to hear this but… watch your nutrition, hydration, sleep and overall health. stress too ma’am. your hair (and skin) can be a reflection of your overall health. take care of your body. you deserve to feel healthy. also, consider a filter for your shower head, and you know that fr you should be sleeping on your back and using silk pillowcases. Drink your water. Do your yoga. Meditate. Go outside. Get a therapist or a diary. buy yourself some flowers and paint your vanity area pink and put some crystals in there. you deserve it.

my daily (non wash day) routine is as follows- take down my bun and use a scalp gua sha to detangle or remove any fallen hairs from the previous day. i don’t ever use brushes or combs but my hair has gotten to long to manage with just finger combing so i have gotten a few scalp guashas from amazon to use as “combs”. I detangle and put a little argon oil mixed with shea moisture leave in conditioner on my hands and run that through my hair. if i feel like i need more slip i use biosilk or paul mitchell super skinny serum at this point.

on alternating days i use nuderma comb on my scalp for five minutes. (on the days i do NOT use the comb i use the iRestore for 25 minutes in the evening. these can both only be used every other day)

next i rebraid it, bun it low, and secure with a long acrylic chopstick. i avoid hair ties and pins since they cause a bit of damage.

then i do a scalp massage with a little scalp massager i bought on amazon. (chill mama, i’ll add links to these things below ❤ ) To be safe i do this with a satin bonnet on. You can find these at a dollar store or a big box store. They aren’t great quality and confusingly the satin side is on the OUTSIDE of the cap so flip it inside out, cut a notch in the elastic band so it doesn’t cause friction on your hairline. Now you are cooking. Yes you look ridiculous.

That’s the cost of beauty, baby.

I massage for 15 minutes. Walk around and listen to an audiobook or something. This feels good.

I live my best life until bedtime. I take the hairstick out and secure my hair (still bunned) in a large silk scarf. Sleep. It makes you pretty.

Next day. do it again.

On the day Before wash day put in a decent amount of amla oil.

On wash day i take down my bun, detangle and put mielle oil on my scalp. Feels good. Then i put in Shea Moisture Deep Conditioning Mask. I put my heated cap in the dryer to warm up and put it on.

yeah, it’s heavy.

hang out. do some yoga or something.

after a few hours i rinse rinse rinse rinse. i use a removable shower head with a filter because who actually knows what’s in the water and i don’t want to wash my hair with hard water.

once a month or so i pour fermented rice water over my head at this point. yes it smells bad.

Then i wash my hair.

Now i’m running out of hot water so i put conditioner all over my hair and get out of the shower.

have lunch, heck, have wine because i deserve it.

after the hot water is back rinse rinse rinse the conditioner for a hundred years.

i dry my hair with silky pillowcases. it takes about 15 pillowcases – i just gently blot.

by bedtime my hair is still pretty damp so i gently and loosely bun it and wrap it in a silk scarf.

Next day i take it down and carefully detangle. Carefully!

look glamourous for a bit. toss hair around. act like it’s no big deal. feel like a big deal.

later, sorry girls, it’s back to reality – put oils and conditioners in and bun it up.

Repeat ad infinitum.
