The original post is from April, so these photos are a year old – I have updated the post with my current routine. My current length is just past knee. I’m just too lazy to update the pictures.
buckle down babes!
number first, i know you still aren’t tryn to hear this, but look after your overall health – hair can be sign of our general well being. Eat right, listen to your body, move a bit, get some fresh air, get a therapist, a journal, manage your zen thing. You know intuitively what you need to be healthy.
Manage your anxieties and stress babe. Get a journal, a therapist, download some audio hypnotherapy programs, get OUTSIDE every day, do some yoga, take time for yourself, hell, drink a damn glass of wine and eat a cookie. Self care can go a looooong way.
Read ‘the secret’. It’s a short book and i am 100% serious.
Take up a meditation practice and look into ‘inner engineering’ and quantum healing. Yes i am still serious.
consider ayurveda and chakra healing.
all of these things are going to set the stage for healing and emotional balance.
Healthy, happy people glow differently. You deserve this for yourself. Makes you pretty!
my daily routine is this:
Wake up. take off silk scarf that I wrap my hair in at night, push stick through bun to hold until i have time to get to my hair. the bun looks fine, don’t worry if someone knocks at the door or facetimes you unexpectedly.
right off i am going to use my homemade oil
here is the video on how i mix it
i shake shake shake it to amalgamate the oils and put a bit on my palms and run it on my length. A bit more on my ends. Now i use a little dropper to distribute it onto my scalp.
fingercomb to distribute and gently detangle.
i braid and bun. like this:
Now i live my best life until the end of the day. When i am unwinding, I take down my bun and braid. I put on a silk bonnet and use two (one for each hand, maximise results babe) vibrating scalp massagers – i massage my scalp for about 15 minutes. usually longer. you can’t do this too much.
next i do inversion. just put on an audiobook and drape over the edge of your bed dramatically to get the blood flowing to your scalp.
Next, i use either iRestore or NuDerma comb attachment. These need to be used consistently to get results.
Then I use this cool aerosol oil sprayer I got at bath and body works. I fill it with my homemade oils (video above) and spray my length. I put in a bit of Shea Moisture leave in, sometimes a bit of its a 10, and paul mitchel super skinny serum (slip, duh).
Untangle, comb with a wide tooth comb from the bottom up until all tangles are out. Brush with boar bristle brush to evenly distribute oils and conditioner.
Braid it back up and twist it into a bun. This takes a long time. Subscribe to a language learning app and listen to it while you do your hair – haha, you’ll be fluent in no time.
at bedtime i take out my hair stick and wrap my hair in a large silk scarf. I sleep on a silk pillow. Sleep on your back sis.
that’s the daily thing.
Periodically I will sit down with hair cutting scissors (buy the nicest you can afford) and snip off individual splits. I don’t trim my hair, I just cut off the split ends individually – this is called search and destroy. You’ll hear hair weirdos saying this.
I avoid friction on my hair – its rarely down rubbing against chairs, my clothes or anything. This prevents splits and dryness.
Now… wash routine!
I wash once a week, twice a month if i’m busy.
The night before I put Shea Moisture deep conditioner all over my hair. I use the full tub and then some. You need more of this than you think. I put on a shower cap, wrap it all up in a silk scarf and leave it until the next day.
I have a filter on my shower head that i only use for my hair. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
Absolutely, Definitely deep condition before you wash, for a multitude of reasons, one of which is that it breaks down all of the oil with some kind of sorcery so that it rinses out super easy.
Next I wash (scalp only) with Redken extreme length shampoo. Rinse for about a hundred years. When there’s like NO hot water left and my hands are all pruny, I put in Redken All Soft conditioner. Gently twist into a bun and go do other things until the hot water comes back.
Back in the shower! WHILE water is actively hitting my hair, i use a wet brush to untangle and arrange my part the way i want it to dry. These brushes are like magic and i cannot recommend one ENOUGH. I work from the ends up to my scalp. This can take a half hour, but it saves a lot of time and damage untangling after it’s dried.
Rinse the rest of the conditioner. The water is cold. I’m cold. I wonder why i don’t just get a pixie cut.
Get out. Put that towel down. Goddesses do not towel dry their hair babe! Grab one of your 10 or so softest (preferably satin or silk) pillowcases and put it on your head like a weird hat. Keep changing this out until your hair is dry.
go eat lunch, and hell, have a glass of wine. you deserve it, you goddess. you MERMAID RAPUNZEL GODDESS.
